The Rolling Stones – Goats Head Soup
People claim this is a bad Rolling Stones record, but I think that’s crazy. They came out of their four big records, Beggars, Exile, Sticky Fingers, Let It Bleed, and they make this. It’s right when they started wearing make-up and capes, maybe the drugs started to get them a little, the darkness was creeping in. Everyone’s like: "Really? You’re gonna wear a cape? You’re gonna wear make-up now? You guys are fucked up." But that’s what I love about the Stones, they’re getting into that really decadent and… Just confident, you know? ‘Angie’ is on that record – that’s my girlfriend’s name, so that’s a good one. I love ‘100 Years Ago’ – "call me lazybones", that’s a really great moment. You listen closely to the Stones and you can hear, on their best moments, that it’s a party and they’re having a lot of fun. Even through the darkness.
