Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

4. Assault On Precinct 13

I think the soundtrack is a lot better than the film. I like the film, it’s good, but I don’t think the film would be what it is without the soundtrack. I didn’t know there was a remake, I’m guessing the soundtrack isn’t as good. Anything with Ja Rule in it sounds very different, I’m just hoping there’s no dreadful dubstep remix on there.

The whole thing about that soundtrack is it sounds so wonky, this was before any quantising was used for anything electronic. Everything’s played and you can hear the mistakes and hear things that are ever so slightly out of tune. But what riffs!
