6. Miles DavisKind Of Blue
That was along at the same time with Tapestry and What’s Going On. The third one was Miles Davis Kind Of Blue. Miles, aside from the fact that he is a genius, was a genius, whatever, he was expressing the part that was hard. I mean, it was kind of blue. There was some part of me that was resonating with the understanding that yeah, it’s hard and there’s parts of me that’s kind of blue.
I had been introduced to jazz as a child, by my parents, they had a great jazz collection. And I’m sure Miles Davis was among them, though he was a little bit later than their generation. I had an ear for some kinds of jazz. There’s a lot of jazz that I don’t have an ear for. For one reason or another, this one by Miles just really touched me.
