6. Fausto RomitelliProfessor Bad Trip
I heard this through Matthew Shlomowitz years ago. This album has an amazing sense of humour, and it’s so important in serious music that we can laugh. It’s pure trash, but extremely well written. This performance by the Ictus Ensemble is also when I first learned of them – I’m lucky in that I’ve played with them now, and when I told them this, they nearly died. I was like, “that record’s changed me!”
This record showed me how turntables can work with an orchestra, and have some movement: not just be static, or “my turn! Your turn!” I call it “Professor Badass.” Massively underappreciated.
