I seem to remember Schopenhauer saying there’s no use exploring new arts as only the substantial art will survive time and fashion. You’ll need a few decades to weed out the inferior. The Seer is only a few years old and there’s even a new Swans album coming up, but there’s something so compelling about this album. There are the very few acts that have the ability to put a nail in the coffin of a whole genre and Swans on this album feels like one of them.
