Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

5. Arne NordheimElectronic Music By…

I’ve always been fond of outsider and visionary art, recently indulging myself in Nicholas Kalmakoff and Austin Osman Spare’s works, and in classical music I enjoy Prokofiev or Ravel or even Berlioz. Arne Nordheim is to me the juxtaposition of these art forms. It is the sound of Gustave Dore’s Inferno or biblical drawings; classical compositions mixed with computer-generated noise music. Or tapes. Or field recordings. A true innovator. Listening to Nordheim’s music make me wanna throw away all stupid guitars, sell my amps on eBay and buy percussion at Adams.
