Significant Involuntary Memories: Paul Allen Of Anthroprophh’s 13 Top LPs

Following last year's mighty Outside The Circle album and the news that Anthroprophh will be playing this year's Desertfest, the band's leader and former Heads man Paul Allen (the hirsute gentleman on the right below) cherrypicks 13 albums from his hefty collection

As I guess others had said, it is difficult to choose 13 favourite LPs. For a keen record collector like myself many excellent records pass through my door and the problem I find is being able to absorb them to the extent they deserve and need. Most of the following records have had time to reveal themselves and inspire or provide some kind of significant involuntary memory. There’s a mixture of well-known and obscure music and some with the kind of artwork that drew me in first before the music took hold, Sweet Slag and the Clozier LP in particular. Others I have listened to via crappy tapes or CDs so the music wasn’t obstructed by the fetishism of vinyl. This list will change constantly I hope and I look forward to being surprised and scared by something enough for it to be considered a ‘favourite’.

Outside The Circle was one of tQ’s favourite albums of 2014 and is out now on Rocket Recordings. Anthroprophh play our stage at Desertfest in London on April 25; head here for full details and tickets. Click on the image below to begin scrolling through Paul’s choices
