1. The Beatles1962–1966
My mum was a Cavern girl, the Beatles were played a lot in my house when I was young. I remember being ten years old when John Lennon was killed. I got that album for Christmas and some headphones to plug into the old record player, and I was quite emotional about the whole thing. I remember listening to ‘Twist And Shout’, and I can take myself right back there now, listening to his voice and feeling quite emotional about it. If you listen to that vocal, it’s incredibly raw and powerful. As a kid, I was absolutely mesmerised by it, I was in a trance. I woke up to something. I think that was the first time I truly listened to something, and it sticks in my mind for that reason.
