This is the join from glam to punk. They came out of the CBGBs thing, but they really were influenced by glam. If you go back to the End Of The Century documentary, there’s a film from January 1975, and they realised they were important, they were filming themselves even then. They ended up in 1977 looking like a biker gang, but they were nice people. I knew Joey when he had cancer towards the end of his life, and I had some good nights with him, he was lovely. That’s the quintessential punk album that all the English bands ripped off – The Clash’s first album totally ripped it off.
