4. The OutsidersCalling On Youth

This is by a guy called Adrian Borland, who went on to form The Sound. But The Outsiders were Adrian’s punk band before he got into Joy Division and much more melancholy stuff. The Sound were a fucking phenomenal band, but The Outsiders were more Iggy Pop, and Adrian was a bit skinnier. He was always slightly overweight, and by the time he got out of The Sound he was quite overweight – I actually supported them in 1981 with Andrew Innes from Primal Scream, in a band called The Laughing Apple.
