Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. The Stone RosesThe Stone Roses

That’s an impeccable record. Ian Brown’s a working class hero. Reni’s probably the best drummer in the world. Mani’s a force of nature. And John Squire, fucking hell man, he’s almost as good as Jimmy Page. I don’t even know how to fucking go into that band. You don’t even know who the best in the band is. By a fraction it’s probably John Squire, but it’s a fucking fraction, because Reni’s just incredible. Every one of them is a fucking working class hero rock & roll star.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Andy Burnham, Shirley Manson, Belle and Sebastian, Noel Gallagher
