Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

10. Relapse

The Relapse tour saw Mikey Scaccia return to Ministry but the dates were marred by broken bones, dysentery and Jourgensen’s collapse at the Bataclan in Paris.

The reason Relapse is way down the list is at this point, I’m in a failing personal relationship and I was just a fall-down drunk. As opposed to being a heroin addict or being on acid every day or a coke freak. This is my alcoholic album.

You’d think I wouldn’t remember Dark Side Of The Spoon but I’d say yes, I remember that one quite well. But Relapse? Not so much. I was drinking a lot and wasn’t in a very good state of mind. But I listened to the album again and there are some good moments on it.

I also think it’s just not as good a work as some of the others. Song-wise and on a personal level, it’s gotta go down to number ten, but it’s not a bad album. If you want to get the whole picture and have the whole collection, it’s definitely worth having. Because trust me, we’re about to get onto the ones that you shouldn’t even fucking bother with.
