I’m not fully sure what this song is about but I love it. It’s a ludicrous thing, you know, if someone goes ‘What’s your favourite film or book of all time’. As mad as asking: ‘What’s your favourite bag of chips of all time’. But, because I’ve never ever been shy of being ludicrous, I think this is my favourite song of all time. I think it is absolutely beautiful. There was a time, around 20 years ago, when I moved back to the Midlands from living down south. I was living on my own, probably my first Christmas being totally on my own. That album had just come out and I went to the pub at lunchtime, had a couple, came back, had a whisky, and put some records on. I listened to this record. And it just seemed (hesitantly) it felt like it was me. I felt like it was me.
