Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

1. GongFlying Teapot

The first record I heard that had any kind of emotional impact on me, came via the psychotic halfwit, biological spunker who impregnated my mother with little old me in the 70s. A particular lighter memory of him was when he played this record a lot and made me listen to it, even though I, a two-foot tall, blonde haired, blue eyed, crying three year old said repeatedly, "it’s scaring me, I don’t like it!!" To be precise, it was the ‘Witch’s Song/I Am Your Pussy’ track that Gilli Smyth sings on, the one with all the witchy laughter and mental VCS 3 synths on it. It really frightened me and he’d subsequently play it on loop till my mum came home from working at a crisp factory. Not long after, mum and I escaped with my collection of Weebles and Fuzzy Felts to safety, to a proper man who took care of us, whom I call dad. I quite like this album now though.
