Encyclopaedic Biography Of The Cure To Be Published

Sometime tQ writer Simon Price has put together 'Curepedia: An A-Z Of The Cure' for publisher White Rabbit

An encyclopaedic biography of The Cure, put together by writer Simon Price, is to be published next year.

Titled Curepedia: An A-Z Of The Cure, the book will, as you might expect, take shape as an encyclopaedic biography of the group, a press release says, "examining and riffing on miscellaneous trivia, biographies of the band members’ past and present, summaries of each album and selected songs, details of the band’s various tours and films, and essays on broader topics such as their image, their politics and their influence."

Speaking about the book, Simon Price, who is an occasional tQ contributor, says: "The Cure are the biggest alternative rock band on the planet, and their magnificent body of work continues to inspire successive generations of musicians and music-lovers. I first became a fan of The Cure as a 16-year-old in the 1980s, and I’ve written about them numerous times though my journalistic career. I’ve always admired the defiantly individual path that Robert Smith and his bandmates have followed, as well as their unfailingly high standards. Writing a book about them is an honour."

Lee Brackstone, founder of White Rabbit, which will publish the book, says: "I have wanted to work with Simon Price for many years. He is one of the great British music writers of his generation and I know many people who value great pop culture writing will celebrate, finally, the arrival of a big project from such an influential writer. The mythology, mystique and music of The Cure has never been covered in a satisfying biographical way."

White Rabbit is also lining up a book on the history of drone music by another tQ contributor, Harry Sword, which will be published in February.

White Rabbit will publish Curepedia: An A-Z Of The Cure on August 19, 2021.
