JPEGMAFIA – Veteran

Somebody was compiling a list of their favourite albums of the year, and they put me and JPEGMAFIA there. I was like yo, who's JPEGMAFIA? I remembered the name, but I never listened to his music.

If I find a new person, sometimes I love watching them live before I listen to their music. So I saw JPEGMAFIA perform at Pitchfork Music Festival. It was crazy. The beats were like mine; so experimental and just weird! He was just funny, man. He's this really cool guy, and I really love his attitude - it's so punk and raw. And the beats are way out there where he's even sampling Japanese anime, funk, vaporwave. I love that kind of creativity in music when someone doesn't fit into the genre they're in; this familiar and unfamiliar vibe to them.

JPEGMAFIA is one of my favourite artists, I would really love to work with him one day. I'm hopeful I will, because I think we have the same energy and the same vibe. I love how he doesn't care. Even the way he names his albums, the song titles are just funny. He's just awesome.
