The performance at Clifton Downs will mark the trip hop group's first UK show in five years

Massive Attack have shared details of a live show, taking place next summer at Clifton Downs in Bristol.

Act 1.5 will be an all-day event which will see the trip hop group headline following sets from a number of as-yet-unannounced special guests. The homecoming gig, which will be their first in the UK in five years, will be special for its proposal that it will be "the lowest carbon show of its size ever staged," according to a press release.

The event is a collaboration with climate scientists and analysts from the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. Among the decarbonisation measures being taken to achieve its low-carbon aim are the event site being fully powered by renewable energy, as well as a pledge for no waste from the site to be removed as landfill. Food options at the gig will also be completely meat-free.

"We're chuffed to play our home city again and to be able do it in the right way," said Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja. "In terms of climate change action, there are no excuses left. Offsetting, endless seminars and diluted declarations have all been found out, so live music must drastically reduce all primary emissions and take account of fan travel."

Act 1.5 will take place on August 25, 2024. Find more information here.
