2013's 'Sunset Blvd.', originally released seven years after the much-loved producer's death, features verses from Common, Talib Kweli and more

Sunset Blvd., an album comprised of beats made by the late hip hop producer J Dilla, is to be repressed on vinyl for the first time.

Originally released in 2013, the record was pieced together by Dilla's brother, Illa J, and childhood friend Frank Nitt after they were given a collection of the late artist's unreleased beats by his mother in 2012. Both Illa J and Nitt rapped on the finished album, which was released under the collective Yancey Boys moniker, while the likes of Common, Talib Kweli and De La Soul member Posdnuos also contributed verses.

The reissue will take in the full album, as well as a separate vinyl record featuring Dilla's instrumentals. A limited-edition T-shirt is also being made available. Pre-orders for the records and merchandise are online here.

One of the most respected beat-makers in hop hop, Dilla, born James Dewitt Nancey, passed away in 2006, aged 32. His mother, Maureen Yancey, said the cause of death was cardiac arrest.

KingUnderground / Delicious Vinyl will release Sunset Blvd. and Sunset Blvd. (Instrumentals) on December 1, 2023.
