Miles Davis – Birth Of The Cool

I think this is another album I got into when I was studying jazz at the Guildhall. The Miles Davis and Gil Evans combination is just so amazing, so fresh. It’s just amazing to hear. I'm a Miles Davis fan in terms of his improvisation, but it's just amazing to hear it over these great arrangements that are just so lush and easy to listen to. You can hear it’s more from the West Coast, that kind of sound is a lot sweeter than the East Coast side. It’s a record that really speaks to me, definitely with tuba. Tuba features on ‘Godchild’ from Bill Barber. This is an album I played at school, I actually engaged with the music.
