Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’ Set For Reissue

The 50th anniversary new edition will feature a number of previously unheard recordings

Marvin Gaye’s 1973 album Let’s Get It On is to be reissued to mark its 50th anniversary.

The digital-only updated version of the record will come with 33 bonus tracks, 18 of which are previously unreleased. The bonus material includes the 1973 sessions for an album of ballads that was ultimately scrapped, then re-recorded later in the decade. It also features a new mix of the mostly instrumental David Van DePitte Sessions, made up of songs that Gaye composed and produced, and DePitte arranged shortly before the recording of Let’s Get It On. Those songs, many of which have remained unreleased, feature Herbie Hancock on piano.

Motown / UMe will release Let’s Get It On (50th Anniversary Edition) on August 25, 2023.
