TQ To Link Up With Rough Trade Records For 15th Birthday Party
The Quietus , June 28th, 2023 09:01

Celebrate with us this September – banging bill to come soon

This autumn, The Quietus turns 15 and, to mark the occasion of our passage through the hormonal turbulence of our teenage years, the lovely people at Rough Trade Records are throwing us a party in London.

On September 5, they'll be stuffing Electric Brixton with some of our favourite bands on the label for a gig to raise funds to keep us going into the future. The bill will be announced in due course and tickets will go on general sale from this Friday (June 30) here. TQ's subscribers, however, can get first dibs and half price tickets NOW – to sign up, visit our page on Steady.

We're eternally grateful to Geoff Travis and Jeanette Lee for this support, and for these kind words: "We love reading The Quietus. It is a hugely important site for music writing. We can't afford to live without it. When we heard that they were undergoing financial difficulties, we just wanted to help. By putting on a night of music to raise some money for them with the very generous help of some amazing artists, we thought that would help. See you there!"

TQ founders John Doran and Luke Turner said: "Over the past 15 years, we at The Quietus have written and published countless words on Rough Trade artists past and present, had our minds melted at their gigs, and in 2022 made Jockstrap's debut, I Love You Jennifer B, our Album Of The Year. We're therefore honoured that Geoff, Jeannette and all the good people of Rough Trade Records have stepped in to support us and that some of our favourite acts of recent times have agreed to play. We can't think of a better way to celebrate our birthday."

Keep an eye on tQ for further details of the lineup in the coming weeks. Many thanks to all at Rough Trade, as well as promoters Parallel Lines, for putting this all together.
