It follows the release of lead cut 'Blóðberg' earlier this week

Sigur Rós have announced a surprise album, ATTA.

Set for release tomorrow (June 16), the 10-track record sees multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson return to the fold, having left the group in 2012. Working on the record, the trio, frontman Jónsi said, found themselves "just wanting to have minimal drums and for the music to be really sparse, floaty and beautiful. We're getting older and more cynical so I just wanted to move us so that we felt something."

ATTA prominently features the London Contemporary Orchestra conducted by Robert Ames, who appeared on the lead cut 'Blóðberg', which was released earlier this week and can be listened to above. The album also includes brass performed by longtime Icelandic collaborators Brassgat í bala.

Krunk will release ATTA on June 16, 2023.
