Colleen, AKA French composer Cécile Schott, has a new album on the way.
Spanning 21 tracks, Le jour et la nuit du réel is entirely instrumental and sees Schott make use of a minimal synth setup consisting of the Moog Grandmother and two delays: a Roland RE-201 Space Echo and a Moogerfooger Analog Delay. The record is split into seven suites, which each one taking in three movements. You can listen to the opening suite, ‘Subterranean’, just below.
Speaking about the record, Schott said: "I was interested in exploring feelings of urgency, friction and tension, the idea of things bubbling up under the surface, with a more abrasive sound and energetic approach than what people usually associate with my music."
Le jour et la nuit du réel is Schott’s eighth studio album under the Colleen moniker, and her fourth for Thrill Jockey. It follows on from 2021’s The Tunnel And The Clearing.
Thrill Jockey will release Le jour et la nuit du réel on September 22, 2023.
