Caterina Barbieri Details New Album, ‘Myuthafoo’

The new record is billed as a companion release to Barbieri's 2019 album, 'Ecstatic Computation'

Caterina Barbieri has a new album on the way.

Titled Myuthafoo, the six-track record is billed as a companion release to Barbieri’s 2019 album Ecstatic Computation, which originally came out on Editions Mego and is also now set to be reissued with an added bonus track via her own light-years label. You can listen to Myuthafoo‘s lead track, ‘Math Of You’, just below.

Both Ecstatic Computation and Myuthafoo were written at the same time and are said to be based on creative sequencing processes that explore Barbieri’s interest in time, space, memory and emotion. The two albums were also influenced by significant periods of touring that the Italian artist was undertaking at the time, and make heavy use of her Orthogonal ER-101 modular sequencer.

The release of Myuthafoo and reissue of Ecstastic Computation follow on from Barbieri’s 2022 album, Spirit Exit.

light-years will release Myuthafoo on June 16, 2023, and Ecstatic Computation on July 7, 2023.
