Luigi Tenco – Luigi Tenco

When I was very small, I had a toy turntable – I must have been five or six or something. I know very much that my music taste was formed from that age, and it all felt very intuitive. I remember finding this stash of 45s, putting this on, and starting to cry. I think it’s amazing when music can do that. Luigi Tenco was a great Italian songwriter, who wrote songs full of longing about lost love. He was very political in his last years, and died from suicide – some say in mysterious circumstances but think he just wanted to leave town, check out. His songs always take me back to my childhood.
