A new book about the work and influence of Daft Punk, titled After Daft: Daft Punk & The Rewiring Of 21st Century Culture, is set to be published next year.

Written by music journalist Gabriel Szatan, the book explore the duo's rise through the '90s, as well as their influence on 21st century pop and electronic music culture. It includes a wide cast of contributors, taking in interviews with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Oneohtrix Point Never, Peaches, Panda Bear, Carl Craig, The Blessed Madonna, Erol Alkan, The Avalanches, Kevin Saunderson, Paul Johnson, Optimo and Tiga, as well as a number of Daft Punk's French peers, such as Alan Braxe, DJ Falcon, Air and Busy P.

When he initially announced work on the project in September 2021, Szatan said: "Daft Punk sit in the pantheon of pop alongside Prince, Talking Heads, Kate Bush, Stevie Wonder, Kraftwerk, Missy Elliott, David Bowie or any visionary you'd care to name."

Digging into the topics that After Daft would focus on, he added: "Beyond making joyous records, there are countless compelling sub-narratives which flow in and out of their career: Alive 2006-07 was as consequential for dance music as The Beatles' 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show was for rock 'n' roll — what changed about the way we respond to concerts in the aftermath? Were the Teachers sufficiently recognised for their contributions? And how did Daft Punk retain anonymity at a time when the internet erased privacy for everyone else?"

After Daft is available for pre-order in a hardback edition via Waterstonesand Amazon.

John Murray Press will publish After Daft: Daft Punk & The Rewiring Of 21st Century Culture on March 14, 2024.
