Elton John, Arctic Monkeys and Guns N' Roses will headline this year's festival

Glastonbury has revealed the first wave of acts playing its 2023 event this June.

Headlining alongside the previously announced Elton John are Arctic Monkeys and Guns N' Roses. Among the other acts confirmed today (March 3) are Lizzo, Lana Del Rey, Blondie, Fever Ray, Kelis, Young Fathers, Thundercat, Manic Street Preachers, Sudan Archives, Shygirl, Sparks, Hot Chip, Ezra Collective and Leftfield, while Yusuf / Cat Stevens will take the annual Sunday afternoon 'Legends' slot on the Pyramid Stage. More names will be added to the bill in the coming months, but you can check out the lineup as it stands here.

Acknowledging the predominantly male headliners (Guns N' Roses count female keyboard player Melissa Reese among their lineup) of this year's event, Emily Eavis told The Guardian that there was an industry-wide "pipeline" problem with regards to female artists achieving headline status at large festivals.

Guns N' Roses, she said, were booked when a previously confirmed female headliner pulled out because she "changed her touring plans" – Eavis declined to name the artist. She added that Glastonbury hoped to have two women among its set of Pyramid Stage headliners next year, with one of those already confirmed and the other close to confirming.

Glastonbury will take place from June 21 to 25, 2023. Find more information here.
