The East London club is getting an added room and undergoing a significant interior overhaul

London club The Pickle Factory has partnered with London festival promoter GALA as it undergoes a significant renovation.

The next phase of the small-capacity club will see the venue's interior given a new paint job, while the bar and DJ booth will also be refitted. The team behind the venue are also making significant improvements to the sound system and adding a second dance floor space.

Some of the planned changes have already begun to take shape, while others will be carried out through the summer when the club plans to close for a short period. Once reopened, there are plans to host various early evening events, such as talks, listening sessions and workshops, in addition to the usual late-night club events.

"It's a great honour to be the new custodian of The Pickle Factory," said GALA co-founder Jonny Edwards in a statement about the partnership. "A club that already has so much cultural equity, community and its own space in the London scene. It's no secret these types of spaces are finding it increasingly difficult to forge successful futures. It's our job to provide the support Pickle needs not only to survive but to grow into one of London's – and Europe's – most cherished spaces."
