Lafawndah Releases Fundraiser Song For Iranian Human Rights Organisation

Proceeds from sales of 'The Dawn Of Everything (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi)' will go to The Center for Human Rights in Iran

Lafawndah has released a brand new track that is dedicated to women and others currently protesting in Iran.

Available now via Bandcamp, all proceeds from sales of ‘The Dawn Of Everything (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi)’ will be donated to non-profit Iranian human rights organisation The Center for Human Rights in Iran. Lafwandah is half-Iranian, and the track is produced by UK artist Happa, who is also half-Iranian. It was co-written with vocalist Cecile Believe, and also comes with artwork by Iranian artist Mamali Shahafi.

"This song was born between unlearning the past and watching the future unfold," said Lafawndah in a statement. "It’s dedicated to the people of Iran and their bravery in rising up after the murder of Jina Amini. A lullaby for the tremors that rise when a new life starts to feel possible against all odds – Jin Jiyan Azadi."

The release of the track comes ahead of Lafawndah’s performance at London’s Royal Festival Hall on November 16 as part of a non-profit show in support of women in Iran. Recent protests in the country have come after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody on September 16. A number of other women – some who’ve been arrested while protesting – have also since died in police custody.

‘The Dawn Of Everything (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi)’ is out now.
