The six cuts featured were recorded by the late artist between 1979 and 1981

Dark Entries has announced the latest release in its ongoing series of Patrick Cowley archive records.

Malebox, which will be released next month to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Cowley's death, takes in six previously unreleased disco and hi-NRG cuts from the late producer that were recorded between 1979 and 1981. The tracks, press materials say, "illuminate what was one of Patrick's most creatively exciting periods."

'If You Feel It' and 'Love Me Hot', from Malebox, were both produced as early demos for the artist Paul Parker, while Cowley's cut 'Low Down Dirty Rhythm' appears in demo form with vocals from US disco singer Jeanie Tracy – it was later re-recorded by another US vocalist, Sarah Dash. Two of the other featured tracks, 'Floating' and 'Love And Passion', were likely recorded as demos for San Francisco disco singer Loverde, according to Dark Entries. You can hear snippets of all six pieces above, and find a pre-order via the Bandcamp page for Dark Entries' releases of Patrick Cowley material.

Dark Entries has been working with Patrick Cowley's family and friends since 2009 to bring some of his rare and unreleased material to new ears, with its first release of his music coming in 2013. The label has since put out a number of reissues and collections of unheard music in the years that have followed, with the most recent of those, href="https://thequietus.com/articles/28909-dark-entries-more-patrick-cowley-archive-material" target="out">Some Funkettes, arriving in 2020 and collecting unreleased disco and funk cover songs dating back to the mid-'70s.

Dark Entries will release Malebox on November 12, 2022.
