Field Maneuvers Launches Crowdfunder To Secure Future

The small festival has been hit by myriad financial setbacks including the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis

UK festival Field Maneuvers has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help secure its future.

The team behind the annual event hope to raise £40,000 over the next four weeks, and are offering people a range of goodies in exchange for various tiers of donation. Among the offers are limited edition T-shirts and bomber jackets, as well as access for six people to their own portaloo at next year's edition of the festival. Another reward, which has already been snapped up, saw organisers offer a pair of tickets and an exclusive onsite VIP party at the festival's pub in exchange for a sizeable donation.

Outlining their reasons for the need to launch the Crowdfunder, Field Maneuvers' organisers cited successive cancellations in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as increased overheads, the move to a new festival site this year, and the cost of living crisis. They also explained that despite selling out tickets for this year's festival, there was a 30 percent drop-off in attendance, which led to less money spent onsite over the course of the weekend.

"For FM to survive we really do need your help," a note on the Crowdfunder page read. "We know times are tough and if you can't afford it, please don't even think about donating, but if you can chip in to this Save FM Crowdfunder, you'd make some exhausted and genuinely worried people very happy indeed."

Field Maneuvers launched in 2013. It hosted its eighth edition earlier this month, with a lineup that included Kode9, Octo Octa & Eris Drew, Shanti Celeste, Overmono, and more.
