Latvian experimental music festival Skaņu mežs is set to mark its 20th anniversary later this month.
The event, which will take place at the Hanzas perons concert hall in capital city Riga, will welcome a number of international guest musicians, including Space Afrika, clipping., Russell Haswell, Yuro Araki and German-Austrian composer Peter Ablinger, whose works will also be performed at the festival by violinist Biliana Voutchkova.
Perc will also debut a special experimental live set, while Kassel Jaeger will perform his own work and that of Bernard Parmegiani.
Ahead of the full festival kicking off, a free-to-attend pre-event, on September 16, will feature performances from Sote; drummer Chris Corsano and saxophonist Lotte Anker; Ukrainian electronic music producer NFNR (Neither Famous Nor Rich); and Cannes Film Festival award-winning film score composer Martin Wheeler.
Skaņu mežs will take place from September 23 to 24, 2022. Find more information here. Yuko Araki will perform as part of the REMAIIN project that investigates non-European influences on the avant-garde music of the present and the past. It is co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the EU.
