Mica Levy – Under The Skin

It’s just a perfect piece. With the director Jonathan Glazer and Mica Levi, there’s such amazing chemistry. Everything about the film works and it touches a nerve with all of us. I mean, I teach film theory as well and it’s the one that, since it’s been made, everyone just goes, ‘Oh god, absolutely brilliant.' Some of the scenes, like the claustrophobia of those tank scenes with the black liquid, then the looseness of the other stuff, just everything about it is wonderful and I think Mica’s such an incredible composer. I love the stuff she’s done with Jackie as well. Everything she’s done is great. And also, I suppose, it was the connection to when we toured The Tourist with Wrangler. I nearly chose something more obscure, which is The Fall, the short film she did with Jonathan Glazer. It’s probably about ten minutes long and it’s absolutely brilliant. As I say, it’s not a one-off thing, that relationship between a director and a musician, which is really healthy. Same thing I think with Alex Garland and Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow.
