Coil’s ‘Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil’ To Be Reissued

Dais Records' reissue marks the first time the album has been officially made available on vinyl

Coil’s 2000 album Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil is to be reissued by Dais Records.

The remastered reissue, out next month, will be made available across digital, CD and vinyl formats – it marks the first time the album has been officially pressed on vinyl. You can listen to album track ‘Tunnel Of Goats’ just below.

The album’s original release in 2000 came amid a wave of other records, including Musick To Play In The Dark²which Dais reissued last year – and the drone-led Queens Of The Circulating Library. In the press materials accompanying the announcement of the reissue of Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil, Thighpaulsandra describes the album as "an exercise in brutality," which was produced from a patch of his Serge modular unit that Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson was particularly drawn to.

Dais Records adds further of the record in the press materials: "Processing this sliver of electronics into a ravaged labyrinth was a trial and error process, aided by Christopherson’s visual sense of sound, stretching and manipulating it for maximum spatial disorientating. Frequencies nauseously crawl across the stereo field, burrowing into the ear like a sinister brainwashing experiment."

Dais Records will release Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil on August 12, 2022.
