EFG London Jazz Festival has revealed a chunk of the lineup for its 30th anniversary event later this year.

Confirmed to play are Fatoumata Diawara, Tord Gustavsen, Lady Blackbird and Melanie Charles, among others, while there will also be a Jazz Voice opening gala, which will feature soloists Kurt Elling, Amythyst Kiah, Carroll Thompson and Dana Masters with the EFG London Jazz Festival Orchestra, led by Guy Barker.

A CHICAGOxLONDON takeover at the Barbican is billed as "a deep dive into the cultural movements and sounds that have been reflected between the Chicago and London scenes, past and present." The first of two days will feature a number of artists signed to Chicago imprint International Anthem alongside artists who have come through the ranks of London's Total Refreshment Centre, led by Alabaster dePlume. The night features Angel Bat Dawid, Ben Lamar Gay, Jeff Parker and more.

The following day will see two huge names in Chicago avant-garde play the festival, in the form of Henry Threadgill's ZOOID and free jazz musician Anthony Braxton, who will be performing with his new Acoustic Quartet. Elsewhere, double bassist Ron Carter will perform as part of his 85th birthday tour, and Emma-Jean Thackeray will close the festival by reimagining classic UK dance tracks, for a one-off "jazz rave" special at Village Underground.

Other lineup highlights at the multi-venue event include Abdullah Ibrahim at the Barbican, Melody Gardot and Jan Garbarek Group at the Royal Festival Hall, Dianne Reeves at Cadogan Hall, Makaya McCraven at Islington Assembly Hall, and Edmar Castaneda & Gregoire Maret at Wigmore Hall.

EFG London Jazz Festival will take place from November 11 to 20, 2022. Find more information here.
