Sea Power are to hold a second incarnation of their Krankenhaus festival this August.
The lineup for this year’s edition of the festival – which takes place again at Muncaster Castle in the South Western Lake District – has now been revealed, and in addition to sets from Sea Power themselves, Krankenhaus will feature Richard Dawson, Low, Gruff Rhys, The Utopia Strong, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Simon Armitage’s LYR, Sweet Baboo, Bdrmm, The Bug Club and Pale Blue Eyes, among others. Also on the bill are various talks and discussions featuring the likes of Fat White Family’s Lias Saoudi, Mark Radcliffe, Stephen Morris of New Order, and various tQ personnel. 500 tickets are available for the event, and the site also offers easy access to a narrow-gauge steam railway and falconry displays, among all the musical and literary activities.
Speaking about the return of Krankenhaus, which takes place not far from where he and his brother grew up, Sea Power’s Jan Scott Wilkinson said in a statement: "The first Krankenhaus was an unforgettable weekend. It felt amazing to bring brilliant music and wonderful authors to such a magical part of the world. COVID stopped us making an immediate return but now it feels great to be going back – with a bigger bill and a bigger audience. Some of our band grew up in the Lakes and it really does feel like an honour to be putting this event on in this place."
Krankenhaus is produced in association with the Aerial Festival, an arts organisation from the local area with whom tQ collaborated on a series of Wordsworth-related musical commissions a few years ago. Sam Hunt from Aerial said in a statement: "It sometimes feels like the West Cumbrian coast gets overlooked or forgotten about, but it’s a magnificent place to host a festival. This area is home to some incredible artists and creatives and over the coming years we’ll be working with both them and Sea Power to create something as unique as this landscape. Krankenhaus brings a wonderful opportunity to develop new talent and new audiences in Cumbria."
Krankenhaus will take place from August 26 to 29, 2022. Find more information here.
