Les Rallizes Dénudés – Heavier Than A Death In The Family

What to say about these guys? One of the greatest bands ever. I don’t even know that much about [guitarist] Takashi Takeshi Nakamura, nobody does really. But I’m blown away by the mystique. His guitar sound is the best guitar sound there has ever been, I think, it’s unbelievable. Also, it’s the greatest album title you’ve ever heard. Unreal. It reminds me of when I first heard The 13th Floor Elevators; it’s just wild. You can pick any Les Rallizes Dénudés record but this one is really special. We originally came across it after Chris read Julian Cope’s Japrocksampler and went on a massive downloading session. We ended up covering a couple of the tracks just to get in the groove, ‘Night of the Assassins’ in particular. Anyone who’s into rock & roll or weird shit and they’ve not come across this band? They need to hear it. The real deal.
