The Yardbirds - For Your Love

My parents were not rich, but not poor. Every year, they sent me to London for a month to learn English. I used to stay with a family who were supposed to keep an eye on me, but while I was there, I spent all my time going to see concerts at the Marquee Club and so on. It was a long way from central London, an hour on the bus. There were clubs with Motown bands and so on that were open until 5am, so I could go there after a concert and then get the bus back.

I saw so many bands’ early performances. Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin – they’re important, I saw them so many times. And ‘For Your Love’ is a seminal song for me, that motivated me to start taking music seriously.
