The Smile Reveal First New Music

The new project from Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner was first unveiled during Glastonbury's livestream last June

The Smile – the new group consisting of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Sons Of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner – have shared their debut single, ‘You Will Never Work In Television Again’.

The track is the first studio material to emerge from the trio, having first debuted music in a live setting during a livestream from Glastonbury in May 2021. The track, produced by longtime Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich, featured during that Glastonbury stream. You can watch a lyric video for the track above.

The group have also revealed plans to play three live shows in 24 hours at Magazine London on January 29 and 30. The shows, taking place in the round in front of a seated audience, will also be broadcast in real time via livestream. Tickets for both the physical shows and the streams will go live on Friday (January 7) from 9am GMT. You can sign up for pre-sale access to tickets via The Smile’s website.

‘You Will Never Work In Television Again’ is out now on XL.
