Arca Collaborates With Weirdcore On New Film Project

The project, a partnership with Turin’s Club To Club Festival, will help raise money for a trans and non-binary shelter

Arca has teamed up with audiovisual artist and Aphex Twin visual collaborator Weirdcore for a new short film project.

Working alongside Turin’s Club To Club Festival, Weirdcore acts as director for the film, while Arca assumes a role as curator. It’s a product of a four-hour live immersive music experience that took place on July 15, in collaboration with Fundaciòn Marcelo Burlon, a new charitable foundation founded by fashion designer Marcelo Burlon.

The film is set in Burlon’s private villa in Ibiza, which was filled with installations and sculptures for the July 15 event. Those who attended the real-time event were asked to respect a no-phones policy, to avoid any kind of outside communication or social media engagement at the time it happened. Instead, those who attended were given a personal camera to document the event themselves, with their footage being put together to make up a significant portion of the short film.

The film will be broadcast on September 27, as the latest instalment of Club To Club Festival’s ongoing digital project C0C – The Festival As A Performance, which the event’s organisers launched at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to watch the stream, you will need to purchase a ticket via DICE – they’re available on a pay-what-you-want basis. The proceeds will be donated to Casa Marcella, a temporary shelter for trans and non-binary people who are victims of discrimination and violence.
