British Sea Power Change Name; Detail New Album

The band, now known as Sea Power, will release 'Everything Was Forever early next year

British Sea Power have changed their name to Sea Power, and also revealed details of a new album, Everything Was Forever.

A statement explaining the name change reads: "The band have been thinking about changing their name for years now. It's become clear that it's possible to misapprehend the name British Sea Power as indicating nationalism of an insular, jingoistic nature. Twenty years on from their inception, Sea Power now sail forth, free of any national flag of convenience. The new band name is a modest gesture of separation from the wave of crass nationalism that has traversed our world recently."

As well as revealing the name change and album, the band have unveiled their first track as Sea Power, 'Two Fingers', which features on Everything Was Forever. You can listen to the track above, while further details of their forthcoming album, their first studio effort in almost five years, will be revealed in the coming months.

Golden Chariot will release Everything Was Forever on February 11, 2022.
