Nightclubs To Reopen In Scotland From Next Week

Venue staff must continue to record contact details for track and trace purposes

Scotland will join England in lifting most COVID-19 restrictions from August 9, meaning nightclubs and gig venues will be allowed to reopen.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed that almost all of Scotland’s current measures to combat COVID-19 will be dropped. However, venue staff at clubs and other venues will still be required to record contact details of event attendees for track and trace purposes. "This change is significant and hard-earned," Sturgeon said. "The sacrifices everyone has made over the past year and a half can never be overstated."

As Scotland eases out of its current restrictions, Sturgeon has announced plans for a Scottish government app which will allow users to show their COVID-19 status – including details of their vaccination status – with ease.
