Oneohtrix Point Never's 'Returnal' LP Set For Vinyl Reissue
Christian Eede , August 4th, 2021 15:51

The 2010 album will be back in press from December

Oneohtrix Point Never's breakthrough 2010 album Returnal is set to be reissued on vinyl later this year.

Editions Mego, the label that put the record out in 2010, is overseeing the reissue, which includes all eight tracks from the original release. The new edition, billed as a one-time pressing, will be presented in a mirrored silver foil gatefold cover with banderole, and pressed on clear vinyl. Returnal, heavily built around harsh noise and the colourful synths that have characterised much of Daniel Lopatin's work before and since the album, preceded the artist's signing to Warp Records, which has since birthed a number of additional records.

The reissue by Editions Mego follows the recent passing of label head and founder Peter Rehberg. Taking to Instagram after news of his passing was confirmed, Lopatin wrote: "I've known Peter personally for over a decade, and was a fan for longer than that. That he put out one of my records was an afterthought to the joy of getting to know him as a friend. We were in the middle of production for a reissue of Returnal on vinyl at the time of his passing so this came as a total shock — he was as vital and upbeat as ever and frankly I can't fathom that he is gone."

Oneohtrix Point Never's most recent album, the radio-inspired Magic Oneohtrix Point Never, was released by Warp Records last year.

Editions Mego will release Returnal (2021 Edition) on December 10, 2021.
