The likes of Solange and Peaches remain on the bill for the rescheduled event

Meltdown, the London festival held annually at the Southbank Centre, has delayed its next edition to 2022.

Due to be curated by Grace Jones, it's been postponed for the second consecutive year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously announced acts, such as Solange, Peaches, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Skunk Anansie, Baaba Maal, and Jones herself will remain on the bill.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo had been booked for the main festival, but will instead play the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall on October 15 next year. Ticket holders will receive instructions from the Southbank Centre on how to transfer their tickets to the new dates.

"The regulations around social distancing make postponement the best course of action for a festival of this scale, to ensure we can retain the roster of global artists we've got lined up and welcome all those who already hold tickets," says Bengi Ünsal, the Southbank Centre's head of contemporary music. "We know it's shaping up to be one of the most unforgettable Meltdown festivals ever and we can't wait to share more names with you this Autumn."

Meltdown will take place from June 10 to 19, 2022. Find more information here.
