Marie Davidson & L’Œil Nu, the trio that first came together for last year’s Renegade Breakdown album, are launching a remix series to accompany their debut album.
The first instalment in the series will include remixes from Jlin, Morgan Geist and Young Marco, with further artists yet to be revealed. You can listen to Jlin’s remix of ‘C’est parce que j’m’en fous’ above.
"We’ve all been appreciators of Jlin’s work in the band, and it’s a huge honour to have her remixing our music," says Marie Davidson. "’C’est parce que j’m’en fous’ is a track that talks about the concepts of femininity and feminism as opposed to calculated feminism, and I could not have wished for a better remixer."
In addition to the remix series, Marie Davidson & L’Œil Nu have also today announced a one-off livestream, taking place on March 11. Airing via NoonChorus, and shot by experimental Quebecois filmmaker Denis Côté, the film captures the band playing tracks from Renegade Breakdown live.
In a statement, the trio said: "Renegade Breakdown Live is first and foremost a film, Denis Côté’s vision. Without ever directing us, he captured our first ever performance as a band, exploring the possibilities of what a filmed live show could be in 2021. Even if we are at the centre of it, the surroundings, the crew, the audience, the gear and the mishaps are an equally important part of it, creating a unique document and experience for the viewer."
‘C’est parce que j’m’en fous (Jlin Remix)’ is out now on Ninja Tune.
