Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf revealed the news in a recent podcast

MF DOOM was "85% done" with his contributions to a new Madvillain album, Stones Throw founder Peanut Butter Wolf has said during a recent appearance on the Juan Ep Is Dead podcast.

Stones Throw released the first Madvillain album, Madvillainy, in 2004, subsequently bringing the work of both DOOM and producer Madlib to wider audiences. "DOOM was always telling me, 'It's 85% done, it's 85% done," Peanut Butter Wolf said of a new Madvillainy project.

DOOM had sent over 11 new songs in 2009, Wolf added, but asked the label founder to hold off on releasing so more tracks could be recorded for the release. A number of the verses supposedly recorded for the sequel later appeared as features on other artists' tracks. "I got a little frustrated, and I was just like, you know, 'It's gonna happen when it's gonna happen'," Wolf said. "I don't wanna be the guy to force creativity or anything."

It's not known yet what will happen with the material DOOM had already passed on to Wolf, but he revealed that he has permission from DOOM's manager to release them in one complete package.

MF DOOM passed away in October of last year, with news of his death only being revealed publicly on New Year's Eve. The cause of death was not revealed.
