It features full albums as well as unreleased studio and live recordings captured between 1980 and 1983

A new Tangerine Dream box set, focused on the German group's early '80s work, is on the way.

Titled Pilots Of Purple Twilight, the set collects remastered, and newly remixed, versions of releases such as Tangram, Thief, Exit, White Eagle, Logos Live and Hyperborea, as well as the group's previously unreleased score for Michael Mann's 1983 film The Keep.

The set as a whole focuses on the band's output between 1980 and 1983, and in addition to the above-mentioned releases, it also takes in unreleased studio and live material, including a full concert in London from 1982, and tracks from other soundtracks that the band worked on like The Soldier and Risky Business. You can listen to the newly remastered 'Main Titles From The Soldier' above.

As well as the full box set, single-CD reissues for the group's albums from 1980 to 1983 are to be made available separately.

Pilots Of Purple Twilight follows on from a previous box set covering Tangerine Dream's work, last year's In Search Of Hades, which focused on their output from 1973 to 1979.

Universal Music will release Pilots Of Purple Twilight: The Virgin Recordings 1980-1983 on October 30, 2020.
