A new compilation has been released to raise awareness of current political events in Belarus.
For Belarus is a 21-track release coordinated to support the victims of repression and police violence in Belarus. Thomas Azier, Gudrun Gut, Mary Ocher, and Alyona Alyona feature amongst the European artists who’ve contributed music to the compilation, while some Belarusians, such as Super Besse, Chikiss and Mochat Dolma, also make an appearance.
New tracks also come from a fair number of intriguing "East and East-Central European" acts that tQ has championed in recent times, such as Estonian duo Maarja Nuut & Ruum, and Moscow’s Inturist. You can check out the full compilation just above.
The aim of For Belarus is to show solidarity with the Belarusians currently protesting and collect money for the victims of repression. All funds raised from sales will be sent to support Belarus Solidarity Foundation, one of several organisations currently helping those in the country.
Events on the ground are currently moving very quickly, and as the organisers of the compilation say, "there is no time to wait" for those on the receiving end of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s authoritarian tactics. They "desperately need our help now." Thousands are currently imprisoned and about 70 people are still missing.
