Brian Eno's Soundtrack For Documentary To Get Vinyl Release
Christian Eede , August 13th, 2020 12:09

Eno originally produced the soundtrack for a 2018 film about German designer Dieter Rams

Brian Eno's soundtrack for a 2018 documentary on Dieter Rams is set to be released on vinyl for the first time later this month.

The release is part of this year's belated Record Store Day festivities, and was originally set to come out on April 18 before the spread of COVID-19 delayed this year's RSD plans. The vinyl release will feature the original soundtrack, alongside 11 previously unreleased instrumental versions.

Eno was approached to work on the film about the German industrial designer by director Gary Hustwit as a result of what he perceived as a "connection between Dieter's design sensibility and Brian's music." The documentary itself looks at the life of Rams, as well as the legacy of his designs.

News of the soundtrack's vinyl release follows on from the recent confirmation that Eno's 1996 diaries and essays collection, A Year With Swollen Appendices, will soon be reissued by Faber with a new introduction by Eno himself to mark its 25th anniversary.

UMC will release Rams: Original Soundtrack Album on August 29, 2020.
