Bechdel, the former Brighton bi-monthly music and performance night for female-identifying and non-binary performers, has released a fundraising compilation.
Bechdel Volume One takes in 13 live performances recorded at Bechdel, which took place at Brighton’s Café Noor and Onca Gallery between 2016 and 2018. Its line-ups focused particularly on performers working with experimental music, sound art, noise, spoken word, free jazz, folk, and neo-classical genres.
All proceeds from sales of the compilation will be directed towards experimental musician Jae Josephine, a trans woman who is seeking access to facial feminisation surgery. You can support her GoFundMe campaign directly here.
All the artists featured on Bechdel Volume One have donated their work for free, while Bechdel founder Ingrid Plum, whose recording ‘Invocation’ opens the compilation, curated the release.
Bechdel Volume One is out now via Bandcamp.
